Man Group hires European real estate debt head

Investment management firm Man Group has hired Jon Rickert as head of European private debt to support the ongoing expansion of its global private markets business.

Rickert, who joins from global asset management firm GAM, will lead the commercial and residential real estate debt team.

Mikko Syrjänen, co-head of real assets, Man GPM, said: “Jon brings a wealth of real estate financing experience with him and we are confident that he will be of significant value in driving the growth of our European lending activities.”

Rickert led GAM’s real estate debt business for the past three years. He has a long track record of real estate debt and equity investing established over a 26-year career, having spent 15 years at JP Morgan where he was one of the original members of the direct loan origination team.

During his tenure there, he served as head of the real estate structured finance business in EMEA, and ran both the EMEA special situations investing business and the UK residential mortgage business. In 2012, he joined Renshaw Bay as managing partner and founded its real estate debt investment business.
