Urban&Civic’s Alconbury Weald has been touted as the UK’s largest development.
The £1.5bn creation of a new village in Cambridgeshire will see 6,500 new homes and more than 3m sq ft of government-backed Enterprise Zone, just outside of Huntingdon.
Construction of the first phase, including 900 homes, a business district and a primary school kicked off in 2015. And now Urban&Civic is upping its game, with an application for a further 1,000 homes and a secondary school out for public consultation.
Urban&Civic’s chief executive Nigel Hugill took EG on a guided tour of the 1,425-acre site, which stretches across the former RAF airfield and neighbouring farmland.
