BT appoints agent for largest-ever UK office consolidation

BT has hired JLL to advise the company amid plans to consolidate more than 300 of its UK offices to around 30.

The 30 offices will be a mixture of existing office buildings and new acquisitions.

BT said the consolidation programme is the biggest of its type ever undertaken in the UK and it is expected to complete in 2023.

JLL’s role covers all areas outside London.

Michael Evans, corporate solutions director at JLL said: “This is a major programme to be involved with which will ultimately result in a fit-for-purpose office estate providing modern and inspiring workspaces for BT.”

Graeme Paton, managing director, property and facilities services, BT added: “The Better Workplace Programme is much more than a property consolidation exercise, it is a business and cultural transformation programme.

“We are working with JLL to identify appropriate opportunities. Our ambition is for all our refurbished and new locations to provide a great place for our people to work.”

BT appointed Cushman & Wakefield in July last year to advise on the sale options for its London headquarters at 81 Newgate Street, EC1.
