ConAgra cooks up meatless meat plans to boost sales growth

ConAgra has its sights on the fast-growing market for meat alternatives after the company’s traditional foods and snacks struggled to boost sales in the latest quarter.

ConAgra, the $12.9bn packaged foods company behind Slim Jim and Chef Boyardee, delivered a weaker profit than expected amid intensified promotional competition and weak performance in its Ardent Mills flour joint venture, pulling the stock down sharply in morning trade.
