Thousands of jobs are to be lost on Britain’s high streets as bookmakers prepare to close betting shops following a clampdown on lucrative fixed-odds betting terminals.
William Hill yesterday pressed the start button on plans to close about 700 high street betting shops by the end of this year, putting 4,500 jobs at risk.
