Primark mourns loss of founder Arthur Ryan, a fast-fashion trend-setter

The founder of Primark, Arthur Ryan, has died at the age of 83, just a week after the discount clothing retailer celebrated the 50th anniversary of its first shop opening in Dublin.

The Irishman, who was chief executive for 40 years until becoming chairman ten years ago, was hailed by Paul Marchant, the Primark chief executive, as “a truly gifted retailer and a visionary leader”.
