Retail sales fell in June by the largest margin for the month since at least 1995 as the pressure on Britain’s high street increases, a new report has suggested.
Total sales fell by 1.3 per cent compared with the same month last year, while like-for-like sales, which exclude new shop openings and closures, fell by 1.6 per cent, according the latest monthly survey by the British Retail Consortium and KPMG. This is the worst performance for June since BRC records began in 1995.
