San Francisco’s Slack expands in Dublin

US technology firm Slack has agreed terms to lease around 125,000 sq ft at Dublin’s Fitzwilliam Street.

The messaging app company has signed up for the majority of the 134,656 sq ft office development, Fitzwilliam 28, which is owned by Ireland’s Electricity Supply Board. ESB also occupies the similarly sized office block next door, Fitzwilliam 27.

The redevelopment of the ESB site was given the green light in late 2015. The project involved the retention and refurbishment of a number of Georgian structures and the construction of two new seven storey office blocks (Fitzwilliam 27 and 28), designed by Grafton Architects and O’Mahony Pike Architects.

San Francisco based-Slack has had its EMEA headquarters in Dublin for nearly two years. It first opened in the city in 2015, but soon outgrew its office and opened a bigger circa 30,000 sq ft base at Hatch Street, which is close to its new operations at Fitzwilliam Street in Dublin 2.

It is understood that Savills and Bannon advised ESB, while Colliers acted for Slack.

Slack, Savills and Colliers declined to comment. Bannon was approached for comment.
