Hammerson appoints former Carlyle boss to disposal committee

Hammerson has appointed Adam Metz, former managing director and head of international real estate at Carlyle Group, as a member of its investment and disposal committee.

Metz will hold a non-executive director role at the REIT from 22 July, and will also form part of the nomination committee.

Metz’s previous roles include chief executive of two US retail REITs, General Growth Properties and as president of Urban Shopping Centres.

He also worked as an operating partner for Blackstone Group, and has held a senior advisor position at TPG Capital.

The landlord created the investment and disposal function earlier this year to oversee a £900m disposal programme, alongside “constructive dialogue” with key stakeholder and activist fund Elliott Advisors.

It is chaired by Jupiter Fund Management’s chief executive Andrew Formica, who is also a non-executive director.

Formica leads the committee of four, which is rounded off by Pierre Bouchut and one other non-executive director who has yet to be appointed.
