Kier dropped from Norton Folgate and Leeds mandates

Developers have opted not to use Kier to deliver major schemes, including British Land’s £300m Norton Folgate scheme in London’s E1.

Kier was tipped to land the main contract for Norton Folgate, after it led the design and pre-construction phase.

However, British Land has now begun a tender process to find a new partner to take the scheme forward.

A spokesperson for Kier said: “We have mutually agreed not to proceed with the main build element of the project and wish them every success with the development.”

The news comes as Caddick Developments’ Moda Living arm has decided not to use Kier Northern to deliver the first phase of its £300m Quarry Hill development in central Leeds.

“Moda Living has been an excellent client to work with throughout the tender phase of the SOYO scheme and we look forward to seeing this exciting regeneration scheme develop in Leeds,” the spokesperson said.

“We have a strong pipeline of work in Kier Regional Building Northern; we look forward to completing our flagship project, St Albans Place and continuing work on other projects across the region, including Park Hill in Sheffield and Dixons Sixth Form Academy in Bradford.”

The news comes after Kier confirmed plans to sell off its Kier Living housebuilding brand, and that it was considering the disposal of its Kier Property development business. (https://www.egi.co.uk/news/kier-confirms-plans-to-sell-off-assets/)
