Whittard of Chelsea has handed over the reins to its finance chief Nathan Smith after its boss of five years Mark Duhill resigned last month.
The retailer began life as a tea shop on London’s Fleet Street in 1886 after Walter Whittard, aged 25, quit the family leather business and focused on tea trading.
It has been in turnaround mode since Dunhill joined in 2014. It was bleeding cash but swung into the black in 2017.
