Zara’s summer dress hits the sweet spot

A polka-dot frock by Zara that became the dress of the summer has helped to propel sales at its giant Spanish owner ahead of struggling high street rivals.
Inditex, the world’s largest retailer, announced a 7 per cent rise in half-year sales to €12.8 billion yesterday, while like-for-like sales were 5 per cent higher.
It also said that Zara, its biggest and best-known brand, would be selling homewares on its main clothing website in Britain and that it would be pushing its online presence into markets including Brazil, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco. It boasts 64 Zara clothing shops and 12 Zara Home stores in the UK at present.
