Workspace names Clemett as new chief executive

Listed office space provider Workspace Group has appointed its interim chief executive, Graham Clemett, on a permanent basis.

Clemett first joined the board as finance director in 2007. He has been in the interim role since June, after Jamie Hopkins stepped down as chief executive.

Daniel Kitchen, chairman of the board, said the appointment followed a “rigorous selection process involving both internal and external candidates”.

“This process, combined with Graham’s active leadership during the last few months and his track record within the business, gives the board confidence that he is the right person for this position,” he said.

“Graham has been an integral part of the strong executive team that successfully steered Workspace through challenging economic cycles, delivering impressive levels of income and profit growth, and we are confident that this will continue under his leadership.”

A formal process to recruit a new chief financial officer will commence imminently, which will include external and internal candidates. In the meantime, the role will be covered on a temporary basis by Workspace’s finance team under Clemett’s supervision.

Clemett’s previous roles include finance director for UK corporate banking at RBS Group, and latterly group financial controller at Reuters Group.

His pay will be in line with that received by Hopkins, bar the pension provision which has been reduced to align with what is offered to its wider workforce.
