Edinburgh Council has approved Legal & General’s planning application for 338 build-to-rent apartments at its Skyliner scheme in Leith.
L&G submitted the planning application with S1 Developments seeking to increase the number of homes from a previous consent for 245 apartments.
The £80m development at Albert Dock in Leith comprises four blocks of between ten and 14 storeys. It includes 25% affordable housing provision.
The development will be L&G’s first in Edinburgh and its second in Scotland, after its acquisition of Buchanan Wharf in Glasgow in January.
Dan Batteron, head of build to rent at Legal & General, said: “Skyliner is another great example of Legal & General investing in a location with significant urban regeneration potential and delivering much needed city centre homes.”
Skyliner was designed by CDA Architects. Scarlett Land and Developments advised L&G on the acquisition.
