Ashurst Morris Crisp has shut down its residential property department following the departure of Philip Beckerlegge to Speechley Bircham.
Beckerlegge, who worked in Ashurst’s private client department, has reportedly taken all his client files with him, signalling an end to Ashurst’s residential property work.
Most City law firms retain a residential conveyancing capability as part of a limited service for high net-worth individuals.
A spokesman for Ashurst said: “As from some months ago, the firm made a strategic decision that we no longer wanted to offer this service.”
