Communities and Local Government has issued three sets of guidance on the Planning Act 2008.
The first document details how applications for development consent for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs) are to be examined by the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC).
It should be read alongside the 2008 Act, the Infrastructure Planning (Examination Procedure) Rules 2010 and the Infrastructure Planning (Interested Parties) Regulations 2010.
The second guidance relates to applications for orders granting development consent that include provision authorising the compulsory acquisition of land.
It aims to help promoters and the IPC understand the powers contained in the 2008 Act and advise on the application on the correct procedures and statutory or administrative requirements, to help ensure that the process of dealing with such orders is as fair, straightforward and accurate for all parties as possible.
The third non-statutory guidance aids interpretation of the Infrastructure Planning (Fees) Regulations 2010 and to provides examples of how the fees work in practice.
