Council sued over footpath status

IDP General Partner, of George Street, London, is suing Hertfordshire County Council for £3.3m in a dispute over the status of a footpath.

IDP is seeking damages for alleged negligence, misstatement and breach of duty for the council’s failure to provide accurate information regarding the public highway status of Lea Road, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire.

IDP claims to have relied upon the information provided by the council in deciding whether to buy a development site adjacent to Lea Road, and says that the council negligently provided incorrect information as to the road’s status.

The claim was issued by Richards Butler.
