International law firm DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary (DLA) has expanded its real estate capital markets sector by adding a US-based REIT securities and corporate practice.
A division of Alston & Bird has joined DLA, and will practice from a new office in Raleigh, North Carolina. The group is led by partners Brad Markoff, William Klapp, Robert Bergdolt, Jeffrey Sullivan and Jeffrey Miller.
According to DLA, the Raleigh group will supplement the firm’s existing REIT, real estate private equity fund and real estate finance practices, while adding capabilities in the underwriting of REIT securities and corporate governance.
Over the past two years, the group has been involved in five initial public offerings and more than 25 secondary offerings in the REIT industry, totalling around $2bn.
The new office brings the number of DLA offices to 50 in 18 countries.
