Inefficient e-mail

Workers spend an average of 49 minutes each day managing email, which reduces their efficiency. This is the claim of a report by analyst group Gartner. It also concludes that 34% of internal business e-mail is unnecessary.

Snoopers’ charter criticised

Information commissioner Elizabeth France was criticised by a conference of lawyers for making the code of practice on e-mail snooping unnecessarily complex. The code of practice is designed to remove confusion over the laws allowing companies to monitor their employees’ e-mail use.

Take a virtual tour of a property

The Internet Picture Corporation (iPIX) has signed a deal with Lookat, allowing the latter to provide full iPIX virtual tours to its UK customers. The service provides 360-degree tour for websites or e-mail.

Know where you are on the Mac

iMap is a new free Geographical Information System-compatible mapping tool for the Apple Macintosh. A Windows version will follow this summer. The software can be used to create movies of the change in an area over time.
