Enterprise defends ‘beer ties’

Enterprise Inns has defended its beer ties in the face of a parliamentary investigation into the relationships between tenanted pub companies and licensees who rent their pubs.

The company said it believed its business model was fair and that there was a strong demand for vacant pubs it had in its estate.

The government will probe rent levels and the price publicans are forced to pay to their pub companies for beer under the tie.
