Gypsies win landmark site case

The Court of Appeal has ruled that travellers who camp on land in breach of planning laws should be allowed to remain there if there are no official sites for them.

Three gypsy families won the right to establish their portable homes at a site in Chichester because the local district council had not provided sites.

The judges overturned a High Court ruling made in July last year.
