The House of Lords is to hear a long-running dispute over VAT exemption in respect of work on protected buildings.
Zielinski Baker & Partners Ltd, a firm of project managers, building surveyors, planning consultants and housebuilders, was previously held to be exempt from VAT for works carried out on a protected-building project.
Customs & Excise has now been given permission to challenge the Court of Appeal ruling, on condition that it pays Zielinski Baker’s legal costs regardless of the outcome.
