Irwin Mitchell has appointed Carl Dyer as head of its UK national planning team.
The move follows the firm’s recent merger with Thomas Eggar, where Dyer was previously head of planning.
He will head a team of seven specialist planning lawyers who practice from the London, Manchester and Gatwick offices, and will be working to build Irwin Mitchell’s planning team further. Partner Martha Grekos remains as head of the planning and infrastructure Team in London.
Paul Firth, head of national real estate at Irwin Mitchell, said: “ The merger with Thomas Eggar has been very exciting for our real estate business, increasing its size by 80%, giving us even stronger UK coverage and broadening our offer to our real estate clients.
“As well as offering the full remit of commercial real estate services, we can now have proven expertise in residential property and agricultural business and estates.
“Planning is an important part of our real estate offer, particularly in today’s market. The government is continually tinkering with planning legislation in its efforts to encourage more house building and subsequent infrastructure development and we are well placed to cater for this increasingly complex environment.”
