Knight Frank takes Liverpool’s Kuyt to court

Knight Frank (KF) has launched a legal claim against Liverpool footballer Dirk Kuyt in a bid to recover moneys it is allegedly owed for consultancy work on a former school that the Dutch international bought and converted.

According to a report in today’s Daily Telegraph, KF alleges that it is owed £50,600 after arranging for works to be carried out on the site in 2008.

The contract allegedly says that the claimant’s fees would be “11% of the total sum due under the construction”.

The legal claim adds: “At no time during the administration of the contract did the defendant express any dissatisfaction with the claimant’s services.

“The total contract sum was £400,000, giving a fee of £44,000 plus VAT.”

KF claims that after it submitted its invoice, Kuyt’s Dutch representatives “expressed surprise” that the fees were calculated on a percentage basis rather than an hourly rate.

The Daily Telegraph quotes Kuyt’s lawyer as saying that he “entirely disputes Knight Frank’s claim and will file a full defence in due course”.
