The Land Registry will remain in the public sector despite the changes promised in the Land Registration Bill, according to a Government report.
Lord Irvine, the Lord Chancellor, yesterday approved the recommendation, made in the Land Registry Quinquennial Review, that the organisation should remain a Government department following the passage of the Land Registration Bill.
The Bill, which was announced in the Queen’s Speech and introduced in the House of Lords last week, will pave the way for electronic conveyancing and will replace all previous Land Registration legislation.
