Lords to rule on dispute over collapsed embankment

The House of Lords is due to give judgment tomorrow on a long-running legal dispute over the collapse of a disused railway embankment near Hollow End Tower Block, Stockport.

The five Law Lords will give their decision on an appeal by Transco plc. Transco had challenged an Appeal Court ruling that cleared Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council of any liability for damage caused by the partial collapse of the embankment in September 1992.
