Middlesex Guildhall chosen for supreme court

Lord Falconer, lord chancellor, has announced the new supreme court will be housed in Middlesex Guildhall in London’s Parliament Square, at a cost of about £30m plus running costs.

He unveiled the building as the preferred site despite some law lords’ reservations.

It is currently used as a crown court. The Department for Constitutional Affairs is in talks with English Heritage to seek permission to redevelop the building.
