Mark Heighton is to become head of real estate at CMS Cameron McKenna when Edward Benzecry, its current head, steps down at the end of April.
Heighton, whose term is for an initial four years from 1 May, will assume responsibility for the firm’s
Benzecry, who was not eligible for re-election for a third term, stands down after eight years in the role and will relocate to its Bristol office, where he will continue to be a real estate partner and service existing clients.
Benzecry also takes on responsibility for reviewing the national business across all practice areas, with a view to expanding the out-of-London offering and increasing competitiveness.
Speaking of the change, Heighton said: “The last couple of years have been challenging for the real estate sector. We have a great team and client base. I am looking forward to the opportunity of continuing to build on our successes over the past few years and to drive forward our real estate group.”
