Obituary: Professor James Driscoll

Professor James Driscoll, the solicitor, academic, mediator and former tribunal judge, passed away last week.

Driscoll was well-known for his expertise in residential property law and was a consultant solicitor with Trowers & Hamlins for 20 years. He also held several academic positions, both here and in the US, and most recently sat as a judge for the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber).

He was also a prolific writer and contributed to numerous books, loose-leaf titles and journals. He wrote the residential content for EG’s Legal Notes column for many years, as well as contributing articles on subjects such as commonhold, right to manage and enfranchisement – areas in which he was an acknowledged expert.
