Berwin Leighton Paisner has, for the second consecutive year, been voted the industry’s top planning law firm in Planning magazine’s annual survey.
It was closely followed by Herbert Smith, Eversheds, SJ Berwin and Denton Wilde Sapte. Lovells, which was ranked fifth last year, slipped to sixth place.
Eversheds compounded its success with partner Paul Winter’s ranking at number one in the individual planning solicitor category. Winter, whose current casework includes the Arsenal Football Club stadium redevelopment, beat competition from Lovells’ Michael Gallimore (second), SJ Berwin’s Simon Ricketts (third) and joint fourth-place holders Denton Wilde Sapte’s Stephen Ashworth and Herbert Smith’s Matthew White.
Christopher Katkowski QC retained his place as leading planning silk, ahead of other high-profile individuals Keith Lindblom QC, Timothy Corner QC, Neil King QC and Robin Purchas QC.
The survey was based on responses from solicitors, barristers and planning practitioners.
