A £118m mixed-use development above Aldgate East underground station in London E1, is under threat following a claim by its neighbour that its right to light will be breached.
Valson International is asking the High Court to prevent Guernsey-based Julius Properties from building a 22-storey mixed-use scheme comprising 217 flats and office and retail space. It contends that the development will “obstruct or diminish the access of light” to its property, which faces the site.

Formation Design & Build is a subsidiary of Formation Group plc, which provides management and professional services to “high-net-worth individuals” from the sport, media and entertainment worlds.
The scheme received planning consent from Tower Hamlets Council in August 2006.
It is scheduled to be completed by the end of February 2010.
Julius and Formation declined to comment.
