The Junior PLA dilapidations seminar answers your questions

At the Junior Property Litigation Association’s recent dilapidations seminar in Birmingham, a highly experienced panel answered questions from JPLA members on a tricky area for lawyers and surveyors.

Guy Fetherstonhaugh QC (Falcon Chambers), Nick Dowding QC and Christopher Sullivan (Malcolm Hollis). David Murgatroyd (Gerald Eve), Richard Kay (Beckett & Kay) and Neil Burridge (Radius Consulting) fielded queries posed by panel chair Alison hardy (Squire Patton Boggs).

Discussions ranged from an outline of the role of building surveyors and section 18 valuers in the dilapidations process to preparing a schedule of dilapidations, when to get the lawyers involved, what lessons can be learned from other countries and what role technology including drones can play in embracing the future. EG was there to record the seminar, and pose a question to the panel: what one aspect of the dilapidations process would they change if they could?
