Two new partners join TLT

Bristol solicitor TLT has boosted its leisure practice by recruiting two lawyers from Osbourne Clarke.

Licensing lawyer Matthew Phipps and commercial property lawyer Julian Mant joined the firm as partners on 16 and 31 August respectively. Their appointments take the number of TLT partners to 39.

Phipps heads up a five-strong licensing team, while Mant joins a property team of 12 lawyers concentrating on leisure property. The pair will work under head of leisure Julia Lucas.

After qualifying as a barrister, Phipps headed Evershed’s Cardiff licensing team, before moving to Osborne Clarke in 2001. Mant moved from Lovells to Osborne Clarke in 1998, where he focused on developing its leisure property practice.

Both have acted for substantial tenanted estates, pub companies, developers and other leisure operators.

TLT’s leisure practice, which comprises pub companies, entertainment and leisure attractions, gaming, sports-related organisations and hotels, has expanded rapidly in the past four years.

Its clients include Punch Taverns plc, Spirit Group Ltd, S&N Pub Enterprises, Sharps Brewery, Merlin Entertainments plc (London Dungeons), Ladbrokes Ltd, World Snooker Ltd, Gaming International plc, Jurys Doyle Hotel Group plc and the Rank Group Ltd.
