100 Leadenhall recommended for approval

City of London planning officers have recommended London & Oriental’s 1.2m sq ft tower at 100 Leadenhall, EC3, for approval.

Around 1.1m sq ft of commercial space is proposed, along with ground-floor retail and a free public viewing corridor at floors 55 and 56.

The scheme is due to go before the planning committee on 10 July. It is the third-tallest tower proposed for the City, behind 22 Bishopsgate, which is under construction, and 1 Undershaft, approved in 2016 but yet to start.

Hong Kong investor reveals plans for 1.2m sq ft City tower

Hong Kong-listed Lai Sun Development assembled the site during 2014 and 2015, acquiring a number of buildings for a total of £188.5m.

All leases at the existing schemes expire in 2023. However, L&O hopes to bring those forward if possible so construction can start sooner, subject to securing prelets.

L&O advises wealthy Hong Kong families on the acquisition, management, development and sale of office, industrial, residential and data-centre buildings in London and the UK. It partnered Lai Sun on the refurbishment of 36 Queen Street, EC4, which they bought in 2011.
