Consultation on plans to build a 1,000-home new town in west Edinburgh begins today.
Summix Capital has identified the 15.5-acre brownfield site of the former Saica packaging facility as having the potential to deliver 1,000 homes, a hotel and 30,000 sq ft of shops.
The firm bought the site, where developer Osborne+Co and build-to-rent firm Moda Living had similar plans, last month.
The Maybury Quarter scheme, designed by 3DReid, would provide a range of tenures, including family homes to buy and build-to-rent accommodation.
Stuart Black, development director at Summix Capital, said: “The site’s regeneration has the potential to provide much-needed homes, employment and investment, helping to address the current housing emergency, and taking advantage of and strengthening already excellent public transport links by train, tram, bus and cycle.”
Summix hopes to submit plans for the scheme by the end of the year.
Scarlett Land & Development and Savills are retained agents on the project.
