The government has pledged £141m to fund an education and cultural hub on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, E20, dubbed “Olympicopolis” by the scheme’s champion, mayor of London Boris Johnson.
The funding was announced in the National Infrastructure Plan and will go towards the construction of two new campuses for UCL and UAL as well as a new Sadler’s Wells and a 215,000 sq ft V&A Museum.
The government said the scheme would create 3,000 jobs and generate £2.8bn for Stratford and the surrounding areas.
