Major landowners, including the Duke of Marlborough, are planning housing developments on their estates, emulating the Prince of Wales’s Poundbury development.
In the case of the Duke of Marlborough, the plan is for as many as 1,600 homes close to Blenheim Palace.
The project is being overseen by Hugh Petter, who is an authority on classical architecture. Petter is also involved in a project to build 2,000 homes on land co-owned by Burghley House.
