Plans have been submitted for 1,600 new homes in Cramlington, Northumberland.
The plans were submitted by Barton Willmore on behalf of Persimmon Homes and Bellway Homes.
The development, called Arcot Woods, is located eight miles north of Newcastle and will include a new local centre comprising a primary school, pub, care home, sheltered housing for older people, community centre and health centre.
The homes form part of a larger scheme of residential development that is expected to eventually accommodate 3,150 homes.
Martyn Earle, associate in Barton Willmore’s Newcastle office, said: “The masterplan proposals will see the culmination of a 30-year process, finally realising the development of Cramlington New Towns South West sector.”
