22 Bishopsgate skyscraper gets go-ahead

Planning permission has been given for what will become London’s tallest skyscraper.

Approval has been granted to build a 62-storey skyscraper at 22 Bishopsgate, the site of what would have been the Pinnacle building.

The new building, which will stand 278 metres high, will use existing foundations and basements. Work is due to start next year and to be completed in 2019.

The building was conceived by developer Sir Stuart Lipton and Peter Rogers, designed by Karen Cook of architects PLP and backed by a consortium led by Axa Investment Managers.
