A 17ha (41 acre) site at Manchester’s Withington Hospital has come on to the market.
University Hospitals NHS Trust is awaiting consent for two applications. One includes 3,250 sq m (35,000 sq ft) of offices on 7.4ha (18 acres), a food store of 5,225 sq m (56,250 sq ft), 4.5ha (11 acres) of land available for residential and a 150-bedroom hotel.
An access road off Princess Parkway is proposed, which will link the site with the city centre, Manchester Airport and the M56.
The trust, advised by Insignia Richard Ellis, will sell the land on once it has gained consent.
Gary Halman, north west chief executive of Insignia RE, said: “This is one of the most exciting mixed-use development sites to become available in south Manchester for many years.”
The space is available because Withington’s acute healthcare services are moving to Withenshawe and the proposed replacement, a £14m community hospital, will not take up the whole site.
