The City of London Corporation has bought 68 one-, two- and three-bedroom flats, part of the Kensington Row development in Kensington High Street.
The expectation is that the properties will be offered as one of the options to permanently rehouse residents from Grenfell Tower, the Department for Communities and Local Government said. The deal was brokered by the Homes and Communities Agency.
The homes are in two affordable housing blocks. Developer St Edward is aiming to have the properties ready by the end of July. The site includes more than 300 luxury homes priced at up to £3.5m.
