King’s College London has won consent for a 165,000 sq ft revamp of its Strand campus, WC2.
The project at the Grade II listed 152-153 Strand and unlisted 154-158 Strand was approved by Westminster council in the face of strong objections.
Numbers 154-158 will be demolished and 152-153 partially demolished. A 10-storey building will be erected with academic space and a public venue, along with a new nine-storey extension to the Strand building. Hall McKnight Architects designed the scheme; Gerald Eve advised on planning.
