Tower Hamlets council has rejected a pair of major schemes recommended for approval by planning officers.
Galliard’s 1,500-home project at Millharbour, E14, (pictured) was rejected on the grounds that it fell short of the council’s 35% affordable housing target.
It proposed 25% affordable housing. The council also rejected British Land’s plans for 347,000 sq ft of offices and 40 flats on the former Nicholls & Clarke site, E1.
The Blossom Street scheme was recently the target of protests by locals and celebrities opposed to the demolition of the existing Art Deco building.
