EG Awards: the final countdown begins

It’s now just days until the EG Awards, one of the most closely watched dates on the real estate calendar.

But it’s a night that requires months of preparation.

We opened the awards for entries back in February, closing in April. Judging took place in May at the top of the BT Tower, and we revealed the shortlist just days later. For some, judging by Twitter, the act of submitting an entry was a victory in itself. (Telling a good story well around a whole year in business is never easy, as any judge will tell you.)

The summer saw further shortlists, further congratulations, menu tasting (we hope you like it), a shortlist party (at the Office Group’s impressive Wimpole Street space) and much more.

And now the night itself looms into view. After all that effort (from you, and from us) you would have thought it’s all about winning. Not a bit of it. Victory matters, of course. But there’s more to the EG Awards than that.

A berth on the shortlist is quite an achievement; many entrants fall at this first hurdle.

And the night itself is about more than just the categories. It’s a chance to meet your peers and perhaps your heroes. (This year’s winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Property certainly lives up that billing.)

It’s an opportunity to help raise money for charity (once again we are delighted to be supporting our partner LandAid). And it’s a chance to be part of the property industry’s most prestigious event of the year.

It’s worth the hard work.
