Last April, the property law world was stunned to hear that renowned silk Nick Dowding QC was leaving Falcon Chambers after 35 years to join surveying firm Malcolm Hollis as in-house legal counsel.
Almost a year on from the announcement, EG’s Jess Harrold caught up with Dowding to talk about this latest chapter of his highly successful career.
Together, they discuss Dowding’s motivation for making the switch and how he is enjoying life at Malcolm Hollis, where he officially joined last July – as well as exploring some of the differences (and similarities) between lawyers and surveyors, and the reason he didn’t want to be a full-time judge.
As Dowding is a leading authority on dilapidations, the opportunity is also taken to address a few tricky queries from the legal profession, and stay tuned to the end to hear more about his leisure pursuits – just who or what are KitKat and Orion?
