Housing association A2Dominion has agreed suppliers for a £400m framework of remedial works, including fire safety.
It has selected 12 contractors for repairs, replacements and improvement works across some 35,000 properties, after launching a procurement last June.
The framework will allow for repairs and improvements, such as building safety and structural work, for A2Dominion and its partner agencies, including public sector organisations.
The four-year agreement will also address cladding remediation and refurbishment of rundown buildings.
Last week, the government announced plans for a further £1.5bn in grants to support ACM cladding remediation for buildings over 18m. However, grants do not support remediation of smaller buildings or wider fire safety work.
Housing association L&Q has dedicated £250m to fire safety and last week housebuilder Persimmon announced it had set aside £75m for cladding work on 26 buildings, including nine buildings it no longer owns and 17 under 18m requiring “detailed investigation”.
The government’s grants were accompanied by plans for a new residential developer levy on profits which aims to raise £2bn towards high-rise remediation over a decade. There will also be a Gateway 2 levy for developers planning high-rise builds.
