Abbey National gets go-ahead for 23,000 sq m HQ in Bradford

Bradford Council has granted planning consent for a 23,000 sq m (247,578 sq ft) Abbey National building at Bradford Interchange in the city centre.

It will be the new North of England headquarters for the company, which recently merged with the Bradford-based National and Provincial Building Society.

The scheme will provide basement parking for 331 cars and direct pedestrian access to the adjoining bus/rail interchange. The building, which could be open in two years time, will be set in landscaped grounds. Abbey National has also agreed to include significant works of art in the development.
