Abbey National to open 57,000 sq ft call centre in Belfast

Abbey National is to open a call centre in Belfast. The building society has signed up for a 5,314 sq m (57,200 sq ft) purpose-built centre at the 2ha (4.9 acre) Mays Meadow site on the banks of the River Lagan outside the city centre.

It has signed a 25-year lease with break options at years 15 and 20 at a rent of just over £118 per sq m (£11 per sq ft).

Developer Finbrook Investments will start work on site in a matter of weeks with completion scheduled for February 1999. The development is adjacent to British Telecom’s Northern Ireland headquarters building.

Abbey National was represented by Frazer Kidd & Partners and Lambert Smith Hampton acted for Finbrook.
