Associated British Foods has appointed Northern Trust Company as its preferred development partner to transform the 100-acre former British Sugar plant in Allscott, near Telford, Shropshire.
The duo has formed a joint venture to redevelop the 80-acre site, which has lain vacant since 2008.
ABF, owner of brands including Primark, Kingsmill and Ovaltine; and Northern Trust, will hold a public consultation period in the New Year to assess potential uses for the site.
Mike Riding, land and regeneration director at Lancashire-based Northern Trust, said: “Working alongside the landowner there is an opportunity to transform this extensive brownfield site to create a new sustainable community which can develop as an integrated place within the rural economy.”
