Ability Group buys Cambridge hotel for £50m

Andreas Panayiotou’s Ability Group has bought the 122 bedroom Cambridge Garden House Hotel from the Whitehall Fund for around £50m.

The Whitehall Fund is a joint venture between Goldman Sachs and Westmont Asset Management, a global asset management company.

This acquisition is the latest in a line for the Ability Group hotel portfolio, which now totals five properties, following the recent acquisitions of the Dunblane Hydro Hotel last week, Hilton Liverpool, Club Med Kamarina and Premier Inn Glasgow.

Andreas Panayiotou said: “We are very excited about the acquisition of the Cambridge Garden House Hotel. We are looking forward to further enhancing the quality of this unique property which sits in such a fabulous location.  The Hotel fits perfectly within our portfolio of other quality hotel assets in the UK and Europe.”

It is currently operated as a Queens Moat House Hotel but Ability will look for a new operator.

CBRE advised The Whitehall Fund; Ability Group represented itself.
